My Favorite Part

I was raised in a house of readers. There were always books at my disposel, and it was no surprise to my parents that I won awards at school for reading the most books, ect… Books are a passion. I love to walk into a bookstore and see the different covers. I love the smell of a book. There’s just something glorious about it.

I love opening a new book and being sucked into a new world. Sometimes the first sentence will grab me and not let go. Sometimes it takes a page or two, but in the end, the author’s do their job. There have even been some books where I was sad they ended. I wasn’t ready to part with the characters, and I wanted more adventures, more of everything. Have you ever read a book like that?

But my favorite part of a book is when the hero and heroine meet. That first scene when they notice each other, and I mean *really* notice each other always gets my heart pounding. The hair, the eyes, the body, the strength and power of the man, the elegance and beauty of a women – how each character notices something different about the other.

That one scene usually sets up the entire book for the h/h. There have been authors that have captured this scene so well that I’ll read it again and again because I cannot resist. It is *that* good.

So what is your favorite part of a book?

hugs,
D

LOL, Donna~~I thought maybe I was the only who loved that new book smell. There is nothing like cracking open a brand new book you’ve been dying to read, and smelling that fresh, new book smell. It’s like a ritual for me!!
It’s hard to pick what part of a book is my fav, it might vary, but over all I have to say it’s the HEA. I love when hero/heroine have overcome all the obstacles, resolved issues, and get down to the basics of they love one another, all else aside.
I’ve read books where I was loathe to close it, because I’d miss the characters so much when the last page was done. I’ve actually read a book, and then jumped right into a reread because it was SO good, and I’m afraid I might have missed something first zip through, lol.

If the book I start gets me into the action right away..look out..I am hooked and won’t be happy until I see what happens. I like books that grab you and make you want more. Either romance or mystery it just makes me want to see what happens. I like the small town stories too where you feel like you want to check out the town on the map and visit there or even move there yourself. This is what reading is all about to me. susan L.

I agree, Susan. A book has to grab me pretty quick!

Yep, there is nothing like that new book smell. I’ve been known to prop an open book across my nose and just sniff. Even the book that has sat on a shelf for years has a smell, an older more pungent sniff.

I like the He/She meeting…especially if they have a difference of opinion.
